Mumbai’s film circle is no longer talking only about films and money. These days, the main concern is safety.

After a series of threats to celebrities, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, asking for an urgent meeting. The body says fear is now spreading across the entertainment world.

In its letter, FWICE said, “In recent days, several eminent and renowned personalities from the film, television, and digital media industry have reportedly received threats and have been subjected to alarming security scares.” It added that these incidents have created “an atmosphere of anxiety and uncertainty across the entire industry.”

FWICE warned that the danger does not stop with stars. “FWICE represents scores of workers, including artists, technicians, daily wage earners, backstage workers, and numerous other skilled and unskilled professionals who form the backbone of the entertainment industry,” the letter said.

It noted that the fear is now affecting “shooting schedules, production planning, and overall morale within the industry.”

The organisation has urged the state government to act quickly. “We humbly request that this matter be formally registered with your good office and that appropriate steps be considered to strengthen preventive security mechanisms,” it wrote, while seeking an appointment “at your earliest convenience.”

The letter follows a string of troubling incidents. On February 1, shots were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home, with four rounds discharged. Five people were detained, and police later confirmed that MCOCA sections were invoked.

Another case involved actor Ranveer Singh, who reportedly received a threatening WhatsApp voice note demanding crores.

In both cases, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi allegedly claimed responsibility, which is  is not only involved in threatening celebrities but is also behind the killing of Sidhu Moosewala, the attack on Baba Siddiqui, the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence, the attacks on Kapil Sharma’s restaurant, and other criminal activities.
