Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan spoke about the support he received from Salman Khan during the time he faced trolling for Border 2.
Varun attended the film’s success press conference with the cast and team. During the interaction, he was asked about the online criticism he faced when the trailer was released. He said that trolling had become common and that many actors experienced it.
The Baby John actor shared that he did not take the memes about his smile seriously. While speaking about that phase, he said Salman Khan called him late at night.
“When all this was going on, I got a phone call from Salman bhai at night. He was just laughing, and he said, ‘Good things are about to come’. His advice and belief meant a lot to me,” Varun said.
He added that Salman contacted him again after the film performed well in theatres.
“When the film was released and did so well, he called me again and said, ‘I am so happy for all of you.’ Something he said that stays very close to my heart — he said, ‘I am proud of you, beta.’ It was 2 in the morning,” he said.
Border 2 was directed by Anurag Singh. The film was produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta under T-Series Films and J. P. Films.
