After the strong box office run of Dhurandhar, Aditya Dhar is now reportedly developing a new large-scale mythological action film under his renewed first-look deal with Jio Studios.

Actor Ranveer Singh is likely to star in the project, though it is still early days and no official announcement has been made yet.

The move comes after the 42-year-old filmmaker’s earlier dream project, The Immortal Ashwatthama, was shelved due to mounting costs. Vicky Kaushal was set to lead that film.

Reports now suggest the Urri director has moved on with no plans to revive it.

Meanwhile, excitement around Dhurandhar 2 continues to grow.  Initially, reports suggested that the teaser would be screened alongside Border 2 in theatres on 30 January 2026.

This plan, however, did not materialise. Dhar later announced that the teaser would be released separately in the near future.

A Reddit post claimed that the teaser could arrive on 31 January. It reads, “There is a lot of chatter on Dhurandhar 2 teaser and those who have seen it say RANVEER IS THE REAL EFFING DEAL. He is in absolute beast mode—ferocious, raw, and brutally intense… A monster on the big screen and now, he’s got the Lyari king aura. Oh man!”

The sequel will reportedly see Arjun Rampal step in as the new antagonist after Akshaye Khanna’s character died in the first film.

Despite speculation, Dhar has confirmed there will be no delay. Dhurandhar 2 is set to release on 19 March, clashing with Yash’s Toxic.
