Reese Witherspoon paid a heartfelt tribute for James Van Der Beek.
After learning about his death, the actress, 49, went on to share some warm words for the Dawsons Creek star.
The Legally Blonde star shared an emotional message for the late actor on her Instagram Stories, while reposting Kimberly Van Der Beek's heartbreaking message.
"Devastated to hear about James Van Der Beek," she wrote.
In the post she went on to describe him as "extraordinary" and a man with immense "kindness," saying, "What an extraordinary, talented man who also showed great kindness and grace in every action. Praying that all the angels watch over his family during this difficult time."
Reese and Jame had recently teamed up for a project together where James had been cast in Elle, as a recurring guest star on the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series inspired by the beloved 2001 film led by Reese.
Kimberly had taken to Instagram to announce the devastating news, saying, "Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace."
"There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend."
For the unversed, James Van Der Beek had been diagnosed with colon cancer in 2023 but only went public with the news in November 2024.
After a long battle, he passed away on February 11.
