Tom Hanks is officially returning for the wartime thriller, Greyhound 2, and Stephen Graham also reprise his role as the filming starts.
Greyhound 2, centered around the World War II drama, has started production in Australia. Hanks is more committed to the upcoming film, as he not only stars but is also a screenwriter for the new instalment.
The movie is rapidly moving through, as it is expected to move from development into active production this year.
Meanwhile, Graham is set to return as Lieutenant Commander Charlie Cole, reuniting with Hanks’ Captain Krause. Alongside Hanks and Graham, other actor are also reprising their roles.
Elisabeth Shue will reprise her role from the original film, while newcomer Jack Patten, recently seen in a high-profile period drama, joins the ensemble in a supporting role.
Greyhound 2 continues the story of Commander Ernest Krause and his small escort flotilla, taking the action from Normandy’s shores to the Pacific theater.
The screenplay tracks Krause and his crew on a high-stakes mission designed to turn the tide of war, promising intense naval battles and gripping close-quarters tension akin to the original.
