Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo spark speculations after they looked inseparable during ‘Wicked’ press tours
Cynthia Erivo has recently addressed rumours about her close bond with Wicked co-star Ariana Grande.
The actress, who played the role of Elphaba in both Wicked movies, looked like romantically involved with Ariana during their press tours.
Speaking for the first time, Cynthia told Stylist, “I think people didn't understand how it was possible for two women to be friends - close - and not lovers.”
The London-born star went on saying that there was this “strange fascination” with the two of them, “where people either thought we were putting it on for the cameras or that we were lovers”.
Interestingly, Cynthia noted that people got confused because there’s such a little conversation “around platonic female friendship” that is deep and real is quite rare.
“We're not used to seeing it on camera, in front of people,” continued The Outsider actress.
Cynthia further said that a “relationship where people are connected sometimes just makes people uncomfortable; we aren't taught that those relationships are good for us”.
Earlier, Ariana also confessed that she needed her co-star and friend’s hand during press tours while speaking on Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast.
“I channel a lot of energy through my hands. And so, I'm always holding a hand,” she told the host.
Ariana added, “I like to channel support and energy... I didn't even notice that it was a thing about me until that thing happened.”
