Fans of acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali were left shocked on Wednesday when news of his hospitalisation spread online, just a day after celebrating his 63rd birthday.

Some reports claimed that the legendary moviemaker had suffered a heart attack and was currently under medical care in Mumbai at the NH Hospital.

However, his team refuted those rumours and declared the reports fake, saying the director is in good health.

Now his family has officially issued a statement about his health.

Shared through Bhansali Productions, the family's statement reads, “Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali is doing absolutely fine. He has gone in for a routine medical check-up and there is no cause for concern.”

The note further stated, “We sincerely appreciate the love, care, and concern shown by everyone. Thank you for your continued support and warm wishes.”

The statement was shared via Instagram Stories on the account of Bhansali Productions.

Known for his grand and out-of-the-box approach to filmmaking, the ace director is someone many actors dream of working with.

He made his debut in Bollywood as a music composer but earned praise and achieved success with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999 and Devdas in 2002.

His last project was the web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which proved to be a hit. Nowadays, he is working on Love and War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles.
