Rakul Preet Singh speaks about discipline, injury recovery
She shared her journey and the obstacles she faced along the way
Life in the film industry is full of challenges and long days. Indian actress Rakul Preet Singh spoke about discipline, hard work, and recovering from injury in a recent interview with Elle India. She shared her journey and the obstacles she faced along the way.
The Yaariyan actress said she entered films at the age of 18 without any background in cinema. She explained that she always believed in working harder than others. “Some people were better looking than me, some were more talented than me, but no one would work harder than me. My work is worship,” Rakul said.
She added that punctuality and professionalism remained important to her. “If I’ve said 4 p.m., it’s 4 p.m. If I’ve said hair and makeup is 1.5 hours, it will be 1.5 hours. I don’t know any other way,” she stated.
During the conversation, Rakul also spoke about a serious back injury that affected her routine. She said the injury left her almost immobile for some time. For nearly a year, she travelled with a physiotherapist while continuing film shoots and promotions.
“Even in Melbourne, after a 14-hour day, I’d go swim or do my rehab. I’d tell the team, ‘Leave me in the evening, I need one hour.’ Because this is about longevity. I’m not here for a moment,” she said.
Rakul revealed that she had reduced wearing high heels after learning about their effect on posture and spinal health. “In the last year, I’ve learned so much about how women’s bodies are constantly tilted forward in heels. It’s terrible for you, but we still call it a fashion rule,” she said.
The Mere Husband Ki Biwi actress stated that she had attended red carpet events in flats and felt comfortable doing so. “I’ve done carpets in flats and I’ve never felt powerless,” she added.
Rakul’s remarks focused on long-term health, discipline and consistency in her career.
