Bollywood acclaimed director Karan Johar praises Shazia Iqbal as ‘Dhadak 2’ finds a new life

Filmmaker Karan Johar is beaming with pride as his home production Dhadak 2 was shown at Ivy League universities in the United States.

Taking to his official Instagram Stories, the director wrote, "‘Dhadak 2’ being screened at all the Ivy League universities is such a great moment of pride for us," on Friday, February 27.

Moreover, he added, "The love and respect it has garnered over the past few months has been overwhelming. I give all credit to the immensely talented Shazia Iqbal for being such an important voice and storyteller. She is the soul of our film.”

According to sources, the movie has been screened at Yale’s Luce Hall and Brown’s Watson School of International and Public Affairs.

Meanwhile, the upcoming screenings at Columbia and Princeton are prompting discussions on today’s Indian cinema and social topics among students and faculty.

Notably, since its release on August 1, 2025, the Dhadak 2 has found a new life in universities, where it is being looked at in a special way not just as a commercial movie, but as a story about social inequality and caste in cities.
