Jim Carrey set off a wave of intense online speculation after appearing at the 51st Cesar Awards in Paris.

While the ceremony was meant to honour his contributions to film much of the public conversation quickly shifted to his appearance.

Photos and videos from the event spread rapidly across social media platforms with fans debating his noticeably different look.

Some described his face as “puffy” or “unrecognizable” questioning whether he may have undergone cosmetic procedures.

While others pointed out how his eye color has changed from more borwn to a hue of green.

Others, however, took the speculation much further claiming it is not just his face which is diferent but also his personality.

Across social media platforms certain users confidently claimed the actor seen at the ceremony was “not Jim Carrey” suggesting he had been cloned, replaced, or was wearing a hyper-realistic mask.

A handful of posts pushed even darker theories alleging without evidence that the real Carrey had been murdered and swapped out.

Comments ranged from confusion to alarm. Some users wrote that his mannerisms seemed “off” while others insisted the man on stage looked like “a completely different person.”

Several fans expressed genuine concern for the star saying they were worried about his well-being.

Despite the viral chatter Carrey appeared composed and confident at the Paris event.

In recent years the actor has slowed his Hollywood output but has remained open to returning to the big screen including a potential role in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 slated for release in 2027.

While online conspiracy theories continue to swirl there is no evidence supporting claims that Carrey has been replaced or cloned.
