Maggie Gyllenhaal reflects on her interesting dynamic with famous brother, actor Jake
Maggie Gyllenhaal has recently revealed what it’s like to direct her famous brother, actor Jake in her upcoming movie The Bride!
The actress-director shared how she approached her brother for the part in the Gothic romance movie.
Speaking to The New York Times, Maggie recalled, “I waited until I was absolutely sure that asking him to do this part in the movie — it’s a pretty small part, it’s just a cameo, really — I made sure, I really did some work in thinking to make sure it was the right thing to do to ask him.”
The Lost Daughter director opened up that she teared up alone in her hotel room after asking her brother for the movie.
The reason is, Maggie, said, “It meant so much to me. It meant so much for me to interact with him.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the White House Down actress also discussed having envy towards her brother Jake because of his stardom.
I am very interested in envy. I think there’s a reason why it’s a seven deadly sin,” explained the 48-year-old.
However, Maggie noted that since Jake had earned stardom, she was jealous of her own brother.
“I don't think I knew that at first, when I was young and Jake was a movie star right away,” she continued.
Maggie added, “I don't think I was in touch with the envy, but it was there.”
Meanwhile, The Bride! movie will release in theatres on March 6.
