Indian actor Rajpal Yadav spoke to the media about the Rs 9- crore cheque- bounce case filed against him, claiming it was intended to damage his career and affect his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla.
Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5 after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for extra time to pay the amount. He was released on February 17 after depositing Rs 1.5 crore and later received interim bail until March 18 to attend a family wedding.
In an interview with Zoom in Mumbai, the Hungama actor said the complainant aimed to harm his character.
Yadvav stated, “My personal secretary Mehul had heard what they said and what they are saying today. Inka 100 per cent is film ko bigadne ka, Rajpal ko barbaad karne ka, Rajpal ko sabke samne career khatm karne ka plan tha.” He added that letters were sent to the film industry claiming that he committed fraud and had not paid money, which he said was untrue.”
Yadav also mentioned the support he received from the film industry over the years. “For 25- 30 years, Indian cinema has given me immense love- ten times more than what an actor could ever dream of receiving,” the Chup Chup Ke actor said. He noted that he had launched his YouTube channel, Rajpal Gaurang Yadav, to share aspects of his craft with fans.
The case involved a cheque- bounce from 2012, and Yadav maintained that the intentions behind the allegations were false. The court had temporarily suspended his sentence , granting him relief to relief and professional matters.
