The film Don 3 became a major topic in Bollywood after Ranveer Singh left the project. He was firstly cast in the lead role but he later stepped away.

Several top Bollywood figures held a meeting to address the issue. The gathering included actors Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Rajkumar Hirani, Zoya Akhtar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar Mangat, and Amritpal Singh Bindra.

According to India media, reports said the disagreement arose after Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar, reportedly asked Ranveer to pay Rs 40 crore as compensation following his exit.

According to NDTV, source shared that Aamir acted as a mediator to support both sides reach an agreement. The source said, “Aamir tried to resolve the issues between Ranveer and Excel Entertainment. The two had unresolved matters, and the meetings at his house were for this purpose.”

Farhan’s Don franchise started with Shah Rukh Khan in the first film, released in 2006.

The discussion aimed to find a solution so that production could continue without further delays. Industry insiders reported that the mediation process involved several meetings and discussions among the main parties.

Earlier, Hrithik Roshan had denied any possible contact and reported that there was no talk about collaborating for Don 3.

Addressing the rumours directly Hrithik said, “What started off as just a rumour has now taken on an entire life of its own and it's important to set the record straight. I would like to categorically clarify that I was never approached for Don 3 at any given time. Requesting media to steer clear of any such unverified reports.”

Excel Entertainment announced Don 3 to the public in August 2023 with Ranveer Singh as the first new actor in the legendary series.
