The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ actress shares sweet insight into friendship with Taylor Swift
Selena Gomez is delighting fans by sharing the bond she shares with her longtime pal and global pop superstar, Taylor Swift.
In a recent appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, hosted by her husband Benny Blanco and his best friend David Andrew Bird, aka Lil Dicky, the 33-year-old singer reflected on the milestones she and the 14-time Grammy winner have accomplished together.
“Do you guys ever sit there and you’re like, ‘I can’t believe this is what our life is now?’” Blanco asked, to which Gomez replied, “It’s more so that, ‘Wow, we survived it!’”
“It’s absolutely unbelievable to come from 17 years of friendship — from multiple heartbreaks and love stories and fun stories in life,” the Rare songstress added.
The best friends have remained incredibly supportive of one another’s personal and professional lives, breaking the narrative that lasting friendships are rare in Hollywood.
While Selena Gomez and Blanco got engaged in December 2024, Taylor Swift said yes to Travis Kelce months later in August 2025.
"We both ended up fortunately being engaged around the same time, and that was the coolest part!” the Only Murders in the Building actress gushed.
“You both ended up with good dudes,” Bird told Gomez, prompting the Disney alum to respond, “I’m very lucky…”
When did Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift first become friends?
Their friendship dates back to 2008 when Gomez and Swift were 15 and 18. They met while both were dating members of the Jonas Brothers and later bonded over their shared heartbreak.
