The marriage of Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay Thalapathy and his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam has reached a painful turning point.

After 27 years together, Sangeetha filed for divorce, citing her husband’s alleged extramarital affair with an actress.

The petition did not mention the actress by name, but it mentioned repeated foreign trips and public appearances with her.

Now, according to reports by Tamil Filmibeat, the 51-year-old is keen to settle the matter quietly.

The report claimed that the Master actor has offered an alimony of Rs 250 crore for the estranged wife and their two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.

The division of the amount is not known. Reports suggest that if both sides reach a mutual agreement, the plea could be withdrawn.

In her petition, Sangeetha stated: "The respondent continued travelling abroad and attend public events with the said actress. The actress regularly posted photographs of these outings on social media. The respondent neither denied nor objected to these posts, thereby tacitly endorsing them. These posts widely circulated, causing repeated humiliation to the petitioner and the children."

Court documents also claim she discovered the relationship in 2021, but says it continued despite assurances.

Online speculation grew after fans linked the Beast star to actress Trisha Krishnan, especially after the two were reportedly seen in Norway. Neither has publicly addressed the rumours.

Three decades ago, Sangeetha travelled from the UK to Chennai in 1996 just to meet the actor she admired. They later married in 1998 under the Special Marriage Act.
