Drew Carey reveals he ignored Heart Attack symptoms

The actor had the symptoms while filming his sitcom

Drew Carey has revealed he unknowingly suffered a heart attack while working on his hit series The Drew Carey Show in 2001.

Speaking on Ted Danson’s podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name, Drew recalled how he failed to recognize the warning signs and continued heading to work despite experiencing symptoms during filming of the sitcom.

The actor recalled that during the days prior to the symptoms, he knew he was heading back to shoot the show.

“I was really overweight”, he explained.

While jogging, the actor had a heart monitor up, as he starting walking the “heart rate went up to something really crazy.”

His shoulder went numb and he felt “all the things that I read were heart attack symptoms”.

However, he still did not recognise it as a heart attack saying “I thought if you had a heart attack, you would go and fall down, like in a cartoon”.

Later, when he was on set to shoot the show, he felt his chest tighten up and finally realised what was happening. He informed the producer and left for hospital in ambulance where was treated for two days.
