'Dhurandhar 2' tickets smash records ahead of box office release
Ranveer Singh starrer 'Dhurandhar 2' advance bookings set high, Tamil Nadu sees 22% occupancy
Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, aka Dhurandhar 2, is all set to hit theaters on March 19, with paid premieres a day earlier on March 18.
The excitement is already off the charts, with advance bookings opening right after the trailer dropped on Saturday.
In the first 24 hours alone, the spy thriller sold a staggering 87,000 tickets. On BookMyShow (BMS) itself, the film touched 87.81K tickets within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported that the film sold 7.5K tickets per hour for paid premieres as soon as bookings went live.
However, the trade website Sacnilk added, “as soon as advance booking opened for Dhurandhar 2, the Ranveer-starrer sold tickets worth ₹4 crore worldwide in just under two hours.”
Breaking it down, ₹2.50 crore came from PVR, Inox and Cinepolis, with 35,000 tickets sold in these multiplexes.
The premium pricing was introduced too, with a Super Blockbuster Plus category going up to ₹2,500 per ticket for previews in Delhi-NCR.
For the paid premiere, the film has already raked in ₹9.03 crore with over 1 lakh tickets sold.
The Hindi version alone contributed over ₹8 crore, while Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions brought in ₹6 lakh, ₹5 lakh, ₹56K and ₹31K respectively. Interestingly, Tamil Nadu shows the highest occupancy at 22%.
Notably, the first Dhurandhar had an opening of ₹28 crore in India on December 5 and collected ₹838.5 crore in India and ₹1303.35 crore worldwide.
It is pertinent to mention, with the return of Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and Rakesh Bedi, expectations are high that the sequel could surpass the original.
