Jessie Buckley gets heartfelt support from her longtime friend Maggie Gyllenhaal before the highly anticipated 98th Academy Awards.

The duo reunited for the 48-year-old actress and filmmaker’s new movie The Bride!, which was released in theatres in the United States on March 6, 2026.

"I've known Jessie a long time. She was in my first film, The Lost Daughter, and I think she's really brilliant. I'm so pleased for her about everything that's happening in the world, seeing her talent," Gyllenhaal gushed about the 36-year-old Irish actress during a recent premiere of her latest project.

Jessie Buckley’s awards season dominance

Buckley has gained major awards momentum, winning a Golden Globe, Critics' Choice Award, BAFTA, and SAG Award for Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet.

Upcoming Oscars nomination

The Chernobyl actress has also landed a nomination at the upcoming Oscars, which will take place on March 15.

Previous Academy Award nod

This doesn’t mark Buckley’s first Academy Award nomination, as she was previously nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2021 for The Lost Daughter.

Gyllenhaal also applauded her pal’s performance in the latest film, in which she takes on the role of the Bride of Frankenstein from Mary Shelley’s novel.

"I think in this movie, it's like next level... I don't think anyone's ever seen what she does in this movie," she told PEOPLE about Buckley.
