'Alpha' release date announced: Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, Bobby Deol star in upcoming spy thriller
The Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe project had been planned for December 25, 2025
The film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, was postponed again and was scheduled to release on July 10. Initially, the Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe project had been planned for December 25, 2025. It was later rescheduled to April 17, 2026.
The production company stated that the extra time was needed to complete the visual effects. “The VFX of Alpha needed more time to present the movie in its visually best shape to the audience,” the studio said in a statement issued in November 2025.
The newly unveiled poster featured the Alpha symbol in a creative design with Alia subtly integrated into the background. Fans reacted online. One comment read, “Finally it's coming,” while another said, “Waiting for bang.” A third fan added, “Poster looks super cool!.”
The film also featured Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in important roles. Alpha marked Alia’s first action role within the YRF Spy Universe, which included earlier films such as War, Pathaan, and the Tiger franchise led by Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan.
Shiv Rawail directed the film. He had previously directed Addict and Dhoom 3 and created the Netflix series The Railway Men:The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984. Aditya Chopra produced the project.
The YRF Spy Universe had begun in 2012 with Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Subsequent films included Tiger Zinda Hai( 2017), War( 2019), Pathaan( 2023), and Tiger 3( 2023). In 2025, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, was released.
