Fans of the upcoming romantic comedy Dostana 2 may have to wait a little longer as the film’s casting appears to be undergoing fresh changes.

The project was first announced a few years ago and was originally set to star Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya. Later, the cast changed as Kartik and Janhvi stepped away while Lakshya stayed with the film.

According to Filmfare, Lakshya might step away from Dharma Productions’ Dostana 2 as the film continues to face delays.

A source told the entertainment portal, “Dostana 2’s cast has not been locked yet. Lakshya might not do the film."

Furthermore, the insider added that although the sequel is still happening, the final cast has not been locked so far.

At the same time, Vikrant Massey had confirmed his involvement in the project.

In September 2025, while speaking with Times Now about his upcoming work, he revealed, “You will see me doing that soon. I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie."

Moreover, he hinted that the film will present him in a different style, saying, “Usme you will see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan (Johar) sir will make sure that I have wear good clothes and I wear those fancy sunglasses. Shooting somewhere in Europe."

Meanwhile, Vikrant stayed quiet about the female lead, although he had confirmed that Lakshya will be part of the film at the time.

According to a Variety India report from last month, former Miss India World Sini Shetty has been finalised as the female lead. However, there has been no official confirmation about this update either.
