Madhubala biopic stirs buzz as Aneet Padda replaces Kiara Advani in lead role
Aneet Padda is making headlines after reportedly being cast as the legendary Madhubala in her upcoming biopic.
Based on latest development, the Saiyaara (2025) star is said to have replaced Kiara Advani, who was earlier rumored to play the iconic actress.
Jasmeet K. Reen, known for Darlings (2022), is directing the project, and reports suggest that Sanjay Leela Bhansali might be backing the film.
Filmfare claims that the 23-year-old actress has officially signed on and could begin shooting soon, with an official announcement expected shortly.
Fans have been quick to react online. One user wrote, “Far better than kiara,” while another commented, “perfect choice . she CAN ACT and she looks like her too . atleast closest.”
Not everyone agrees, though. “Terrible terrible casting, Looks absolutely nothing like her,” a fan said, while another added, “Noooo, please such a Misfit As much as I love that girl and her face card, it's just not for her.”
Some netizens have suggested alternative casting. “From the new lot only one I can see maybe pulling this off is Tripitii maybe…she has that innocence and acting in her,” a Reddit user commented.
Another added, “Feel like she can - Triptii can act with her eyes and hold the frame even in silence… The acting with eyes is rare and I feel like it’s a requirement to portray Madhubala. With Madhubala, it’s all about the eyes and the pain, joy and emotions they hold.”
