In Bollywood, big films often come with big expectations. And sometimes that means going back to the set again.

The upcoming film Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is now facing fresh delays after several key scenes were reportedly reshot.

According to a report by IANS, the 63-year-old filmmaker decided to redo some crucial parts of the film as he aims for perfection in the final cut. 

The project was earlier expected to arrive in cinemas by August this year. But now the release date is unclear.

An insider described that reshooting important sequences has also pushed up the film’s budget. Because of this additional work, the release has reportedly been delayed indefinitely for now.

The film has already become one of Bhansali’s most expensive productions. 

People close to the project earlier told Pinkvilla that the large scale of the film is another reason for the delay. 

Love and War reportedly includes expansive aerial action sequences that require heavy visual effects work. The complex VFX process is expected to take time.

Ranbir Kapoor had earlier confirmed during an Instagram live session that the film had been delayed. 

He said the movie will now arrive after Ramayana Part One, which is planned for release in October.

Alia Bhatt has also shared her excitement about the project. 

She said, “I, as an audience, am more excited to see him (Bhansali) and Ranbir collaborate, again, after so many years. I am like, ‘wow, what’s that going to be like?"

Talking about working again with Vicky Kaushal, she added, “Vicky and I coming together again; Ranbir and Vicky created magic with Sanju. So, it is a lot of combinations," she had said.
