Fans eager to see the story of Michael Jackson on the big screen will get the chance to watch it ahead of its official launch.

Lionsgate announced that its upcoming biopic Michael will hold limited early-access screenings in premium formats on Wednesday, April 22, two days before the film’s wide theatrical release.

Tickets for the one-night-only event will go on sale at 9 a.m. PT/noon ET on Wednesday, March 11.

The film stars Jaafar Jackson, the late pop icon’s nephew, in the title role and is directed by Antoine Fuqua. According to the official synopsis, the movie circles Jackson’s rise from a child performer with the Jackson 5 to a global superstar whose ambition and creativity reshaped the music industry.

Alongside exploring the singer’s life beyond the stage, the film also recreates some of his most iconic early solo performances. The cast includes Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo.

Kevin Grayson, president of worldwide distribution for Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, described the film as “the cinematic event” many fans have been waiting for.

He added that the early screenings, presented in IMAX and premium large formats, are designed to immerse audiences in the spectacle of Jackson’s legendary performances.
