Timothée Chalamet’s viral “no one cares” remarks about opera and ballet have also drawn a reaction from Jamie Lee Curtis after the comments gained widespread attention online.

In a recent conversation with Hollywood Tonight, the 67-year-old actress criticised the 30-year-old actor’s remarks about fellow artists, saying they were misguided and that he may regret making them.

“His comments are silly, and I’m sorry that they’re going to be a bit of his legacy now,” Curtis said, whose eldest daughter Annie is a dance instructor.

She added, “I’m sure he regrets the comment because you can’t throw those art forms under a bus. You can’t do it. They’re too important.”

“Does that mean there’s not a reduction in audiences for those art forms? I’m sure there is. Does that mean it’s going to be the destruction of those art forms? No,” the Freakier Friday star noted. “People still shoot on film, by the way.”

What did Timothée Chalamet actually say?

Chalamet faced backlash after making controversial remarks about opera and ballet while speaking with his Interstellar co-star Matthew McConaughey during a Variety and CNN town hall last month.

“I don't want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive, even though, like, no one cares about this anymore.' All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there,” the Wonka actor said.

Timothee Chalamet’s upcoming award nomination

After dominating this year’s awards season, Chalamet has earned his third career nomination for Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his performance in Marty Supreme, making him the youngest male actor to achieve three acting nominations.

The ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, March 15.

He is also nominated as a producer in the Best Picture category for the same film.
