Rakesh Bedi reacts to 'Toxic’s' delay, 'Dhurandhar 2' releases on schedule
He confirmed that Dhurandhar 2 would release as planned, despite the regional concerns
The makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown- Ups postponed the film to June 4, 2026. The change came after reports of rising pressures in the Middle East, which the production team said could affect the film’s performance in some regions.
Indian actor Rakesh Bedi, who played Jameel Jamali in Dhurandhar, reacted to the news. He told India Today, “Pressure toh humare liye bhi hai Middle East main, par hum toh aa rahe hai.” He confirmed that Dhurandhar 2 would release as planned, despite the regional concerns.
The first film, Dhurandhar, had been banned in Pakistan and six Gulf nations, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, due to content considered anti-Pakistani.
Actor R. Madhavan also discussed fan enthusiasm for the sequel. Speaking to a podcast hosted by Sonia Shenoy, he said that fans in Dubai were planning trips to India to watch Dhurandhar 2 in theatres.
Madhavan added, “That’s the power of good content. Now they are planning their business meetings around March 19 so that they can attend the meeting and watch Dhurandhar 2.”
Dhurandhar 2 follows Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian spy. The film explored his training and missions, along with political conflicts and new threats. R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and Danish Pandor returned to reprise their roles. The film scheduled paid previews on March 18 before its official release on March 19.
Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, featured Yash in a dual role along Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth. The film’s teaser sparked controversy due to a graphic scene, and the new release date moved the film away from clashing with Dhurandhar 2.
