Maya Hawke feels a “very, very lucky person” after getting married to Christian Lee Huston.

On Thursday, March 12, at the world premiere of the romantic comedy, Wishful Thinking, Maya spoke to PEOPLE during the SXSW Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas.

While also talking about her new rom-com, the actress and singer-songwriter reflected on her newly married life. Maya married musician Christian Lee Hutson last month on Valentine’s Day, February 14, in New York City.

Maya gushed over her married life, which has been “absolutely fantastic” so far.

"I'm a very, very lucky person who's very happy right now," Hawke told the outlet. "And yeah, couldn't be more grateful."

The wedding took many fans by surprise. Among those in attendance were Maya’s well-known parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, along with her younger brother, Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke.

Several of her Stranger Things co-stars were also present, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery.

The pair first met while recording music years ago and went on to collaborate on several albums. Romance rumours surfaced in December 2023 after they were photographed kissing in New York City.

They later made their red carpet debut in April 2025, when Maya also sparked engagement speculation after being seen wearing a diamond ring.

The Stranger Things star spoke about her relationship with Hutson for the first time in June 2024 on the Zach Sang Show interview.

Maya recommended dating your friends, calling it “awesome,” because “It's the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people.”

"They really know you as a person who has feelings ... not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto,” she asserted.
