Actor Varun Dhawan has opened up about a difficult phase in life regarding his daughter Lara’s health, which he says needs more attention in India.

Speaking on a recent episode of Be A Man, Yaar!, the 38-year-old revealed that his daughter was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip when she was around 1.5 years old. 

The condition affects how a baby’s hip joint forms and can make walking difficult if not treated early.

“My daughter was diagnosed with DDH, in which the hip slips out of the hip socket. Ek pair lamba chota hojaata hai jiski wajah se walk tedi hojaati hai… You can't walk or run properly,” he said.

The Bawaal actor explained that Lara did not need surgery but underwent a procedure, followed by 2.5 months in a spica cast. “Which is extremely difficult. To put her in anaesthesia and then she woke up in a cast.”

The Bhedia lead said the experience has stayed with him. “Now the cast is out. I want to write a book on it.”

Varun also pointed to a gap in awareness. “West main iska bahut accha treatment hota hai birth pe hi… India main har jagah nahi hai itna. But yahan bhi bahut acche doctors hai jo iska care karte hain.”

He urged parents to watch closely for early signs and seek medical advice if something feels off, stressing that the condition is treatable if caught early.

Varun married his childhood friend  Natasha Dalal in 2021. Their friendship started in the sixth grade, though they dated much later, and after nearly a decade together, they tied the knot on January 24, 2021.

The couple embraced parenthood on June 3, 2024, when they welcomed their daughter, Lara.
