A personal story from the early days of Indian actors Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Kapur’s relationship has come to light, showing that their journey together did not begin easily.

In a recent conversation, Supriya Pathak shared that her mother, veteran actress Dina Pathak, had not supported the relationship in the beginning. She said her mother had doubts about whether the marriage would last.

Recalling that time, Supriya said, “My mother didn’t like him. My mother didn’t think that this relationship would work.” She added that even after many years, her mother remained unsure and would often say, “Yeh tere ko chhod ke chala jayega.”

She further shared that her mother had tried different ways to discourage the relationship. According to Supriya, her mother had even raised concerns that were not true. She said, “My mother tried everything to tell me that Pankaj is not the right person… she said he drinks a lot, but he has never had alcohol in his life.”

Supriya also spoke about the moment she made her decision clear. She said, “I told her that I am getting married on this day. You want to come, you come. If you don’t want to come, don’t come.”

She recalled that her mother reacted strongly at that time but continued the conversation in her own way. “She asked me if I like paneer and said he is Punjabi,” Supriya shared, describing it as the last point her mother raised.

Over time, the situation changed. Supriya said that her mother later accepted Pankaj Kapur and grew fond of him. She shared, “She thought that Pankaj was the only right person. He became her favorite.”

Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Kapur later built a family together and have been married for many years.
