Aneet Padda dragged into controversy after sister’s viral comments
Aneet Padda pulled into a row over her sister’s comment about 'Dhurandhar', 'The Kerala Story' and 'The Kashmir Files'
Aneet Padda achieved overnight fame after her Bollywood debut film Saiyaara took the box office by storm, outperforming even big films by seasoned actors.
However, recently she became the centre of unwanted attention for all the wrong reasons as she is facing heavy trolling after her sister Reet’s comments on films like The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files went viral.
Reet had called these films, along with Dhurandhar, “propaganda”, setting off a wave of anger online.
Soon after her review raised eyebrows, her Instagram account turned private, but by then, the arrow had already left the bow, and netizens were quick to notice.
One post read, “Meet Aneet Padda Sister Reet Padda who mocks Dhurandhar… now she made her account private Don’t mess with Dhurandhar Fans.”
The reaction was not limited to her comment. Some users began sharing unverified claims about Reet’s personal life, including alleged relationships and family tensions. None of these claims has been confirmed.
Screenshots of Reet’s earlier comments continue to circulate. In those, she also criticised Priyanka Chopra for not speaking about the Israel-Gaza war during the Oscars.
So far, neither Reet nor Aneet has responded publicly. But the silence has not slowed the online backlash. Much of it has spilled over onto Aneet, despite her not being directly involved.
It is pertinent to mention that she was not the only one. A number of people publicly called Dhurandhar 2 blatant propaganda. Some even said it was Aditya Dhar’s way of appeasing the current regime by distorting facts.
Meanwhile, Aneet’s work continues. She is set to appear next in Shakti Shalini, backed by Maddock Films, with a Christmas release planned.
