The Walt Disney Company has kickstarted its highly anticipated ‘World of Frozen’ at Disneyland Paris.
The step marked a major milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy under new CEO Josh D’Amaro.
The immersive land officially opened Sunday as part of a €2 billion transformation of the resort introducing visitors to the fictional kingdom of Arendelle.
The scene is complete with a towering ice mountain and Elsa’s palace overlooking a Nordic-style village.
The expansion also includes a major rebrand with Walt Disney Studios Park now renamed Disney Adventure World.
The opening ceremony drew high-profile guests including Penélope Cruz, Naomi Campbell and Teyana Taylor as Disney showcased what it described as the largest expansion in the park’s 34-year history.
The launch represents the first major global event for D’Amaro since stepping into the top role following decades within Disney’s parks division.
The parks and experiences segment remains Disney’s strongest financial driver accounting for a significant portion of its operating income and analysts widely credit that success with elevating D’Amaro to CEO.
He described the opening as “a transformational moment” and praised the creative teams behind the Frozen franchise including director Jennifer Lee who is currently working on Frozen 3.
Visitors can explore Arendelle village, experience the Frozen Ever After boat ride, meet characters like Anna and Elsa and watch live entertainment including the Snow Flower Festival.
