Lizzo celebrates sobriety milestone with honest admission
The ‘Juice’ rapper gives update on sobriety journey after lifestyle shift
Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, has shared a latest update on her journey to sobriety.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Thursday, April 2, the 37-year-old American singer and rapper revealed that she has reached a two-month sobriety milestone from alcohol, accompanied by a meme.
"When hg think getting me drunk will be fun but I genuinely give off this vibe when drunk," the post read.
Underneath the image, Lizzo penned a note, sharing that it has been “2 months” since she has had "no alcohol."
As she has recently been focusing on her alcohol intake, the About Damn Time hitmaker has also been committed to her fitness journey over the past few years.
"I’ve never regretted a workout. After, I always feel better. I work out for mental health first. Exercise is the best mood enhancer," she told Women's Health in July 2025.
Reflecting on her past relationship with food, Lizzo remarked, "There were times when I would eat so much that my stomach hurt. When I was done, I would be so uncomfortable, I couldn’t breathe and wouldn’t let anyone know. I would hide it."
"I had so much food noise and connected so much emotion to food," she noted. "If I were sad, anxious, stressed, or working a lot, I would snack and just eat constantly."
Not only does Lizzo follow a consistent workout routine, but she has also built a "very sustainable" lifestyle.
"It’s a beautiful balance where it’s like, if you allow yourself to have something, you can enjoy it without overindulging and hurting yourself. I’m so proud of myself for overcoming that," she continued.
