A familiar story is finding its way back to the screen, but this time, it is taking a quieter and slightly different route.

More than a decade after Queen turned a simple story into something deeply personal for audiences, talk of its sequel has started to feel real. But the makers seem careful not to lean too much on nostalgia.

According to reports, director Vikas Bahl is back at the helm. The film is expected to go on floors in April. Yet, it may not carry the obvious title Queen 2. Instead, a different name is quietly being discussed.

A source said, “The makers had several options for the film’s title and the one that has really caught their eye is Queen Forever. If all goes well, this will be what the film will be called.”

The shift in title hints at a shift in tone too. This time, Kangana Ranaut’s Rani is not heading abroad. Her journey stays within India, moving across cities, but still searching for something just as personal,herself.

“The makers feel Queen Forever is the apt title and that it suits the film’s subject. They are expected to finalize it very soon,” the source added.

Back in 2014, Queen started small but grew through word of mouth, eventually becoming one of the most talked-about films of its time. 

Its story of heartbreak turning into independence struck a chord, especially with younger viewers.
