The release plan for Aakhri Sawal has been slightly changed. In a surprise move, the makers are bringing it to theatres earlier than first decided.

The film stars Sanjay Dutt as the main lead, which will now release on May 8, 2026, instead of May 16.

This shift comes at a time when the film has slowly started getting attention. A teaser was dropped on Hanuman Jayanti, and it has already started some discussion because of its subject and tone.

The film looks into the history of the right-wing, Hindu nationalist, volunteer paramilitary organisation, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and from the teaser, it doesn’t seem like a simple or easy narrative.

The teaser is short, but it gives a hint that the film is trying to raise some seriousquestions. It feels quite direct, and at places a bit provocative, which could lead to more conversations once it releases.

The film is directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang, who has worked in both Marathi and Hindi films. He earlier got a Special Mention at the 67th National Film Awards for his film Picasso.

It is bankerolled by Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures, with Nikhil Nanda producing it along with Sanjay Dutt. The writing part is done by Utkarsh Naithani.

How the film is received by the film buffs, or if it leads to debate, will only be known when it finally arrives in theatres, now a bit earlier than expected.
