Olivia Rodrigo announces the first single from her upcoming album, Drop Dead, releasing on April 17.
On Tuesday, April 7, the pop star shared the news via Instagram, where she posted a photo of herself blowing a bubble gum, wearing the shirt with the new track’s name embroidered.
“drop dead,’ the first single from my new album, is out april 17!!!,” she wrote the caption with a pink heart emoji.
Rodrigo is introducing her next era with her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which releases on June 12, as announced last week.
The upcoming project sees her once again teaming up with trusted collaborator Dan Nigro, the creative partner behind both Sour and Guts.
Though the rollout has been notably low-key so far, the singer has already hinted at what’s to come.
Speaking in a recent British Vogue cover feature, Rodrigo teased a collection rooted in heartbreak, describing the album as packed with “sad love songs.”
“It was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place,” she said. “When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!”
