Regé-Jean Page and Halle Bailey reflect on their fairytale first meeting at the 2025 Met Gala, and revealed the “ultimate icebreaker.”
At a screening of their forthcoming rom-com You, Me & Tuscany, the Bridgerton alum and The Little Mermaid star looked back on their first encounter, where, amid a crowd of A-listers, the two stars still managed to connect and spend a quietly memorable evening together.
Page described their 2025 Met Gala meeting as dazzling but laden with a surprisingly lonely atmosphere.
"That room is already very intimidating," Bailey recalled the biggest fashion night. "You go in there — you look to your left, you see Beyoncé. Look to your right, [you] see all these stars."
Page added that people don’t tell you about the Met that “most folks go on their own, so you have the world's most glamorous people all isolated, looking for a friend."
And the Duke of Hastings' star found his friend in Bailey. He recalled he was looking around the room and she was “shining” in "the most glamorous diamond-studded outfit.”
Page described Bailey as a "beacon" in the sea of people.
