Deepika Padukone finally broke her silence after facing questions and speculation of not backing her husband Ranveer Singh’s film Dhurandhar 2, which is doing strong business worldwide.

The Padmaavat actor had stayed quiet since the film’s release, and that silence led to chatter. Some users online even suggested it was a deliberate move.

Now, the 40-year-old superstar has responded, in a short but pointed way.

Her response came in the form of a comment on an Instagram reel that questioned her absence from the film’s promotions. 

The reel read, “Deepika Padukone just gave the "silent treatment" to a ₹500 crore budget… Is she making a statement against the director or just dodging the internet’s favorite drama?”

The Bajirao Mastani lead replied directly: “The latter my friend… P.S. I watched it way before any of you did. Now who is the joke on?”

Soon after her comment, many fans came out in her support. 

Some said she may have chosen to stay away from the spotlight to avoid taking attention away from Ranveer. Others pointed to her personal life, asking people to give her space.

Meanwhile, the spy thriller continues its run in cinemas. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film explores the backstory of Ranveer’s character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, and has crossed Rs 1000 crore globally.

The film is also expected to arrive on JioHotstar after its theatrical run, following a reported Rs 150 crore deal.
