Veteran south Indian actor Rajinikanth is currently completing his upcoming film Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. During a brief interaction with the media at Chennai airport, the actor confirmed that filming will conclude shortly but refused to comment on the delay of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.

Speaking to reporters, Rajinikanth said, “Jailer 2 has 2–3 more days of shooting left. We will begin KHxRK from August 2026. The production houses will confirm the release dates of the films. The script for KHxRK has been finalized.”

When asked about Jana Nayagan and its postponed release, the Coolie actor stated, “Sorry, I don’t want to answer that.”

Jana Nayagan was originally scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, during the Pongal festival. The film could not release on time due to delays in obtaining censor certification, and it is now expected to hit theatres in June 2026.

Jailer 2 stars Rajinikanth as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian and includes actors Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in prominent roles. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are also reprising their roles in the sequel.

Earlier, according to Indian media reports, the makers had approached Shah Rukh Khan for a short cameo role. The plan reportedly included a brief shooting schedule of a few days. However, the actor did not move forward with the appearance due to prior commitments.

According to a Pinkvilla source shared, “The makers were keen to have Shah Rukh Khan onboard for a five- day cameo, and he was open to the idea. However, his current focus remains firmly on King.”

The report added that the actor wanted to maintain exclusivity for his upcoming film King. The film holds importance as it is expected to feature his daughter in a major role.
