Jaafar Jackson is pinning hopes on his forthcoming project which is the biopic of his legendary uncle.

The actor is starring as pop icon Michael Jackson, who is considered as the greatest entertainer of modern history.

Speaking about how he embraced the role, he told  Interview magazine, he said “Going into it I tried my best to say, 'I’m going to just try to watch without critiquing anything.'"

Jaafar said many people are aware of “the iconic moments” of the legend but “there's a whole emotional layer that hasn't ever really been seen.”

The 29-year-old said he let loose while he was performing which allowed him to "get all that nervous energy out and just embody Michael on stage".

The young star revealed he had kept his casting a secret from his family for a full year.

The actor is the son of Michael’s elder brother Jermaine Jackson and his former wife Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza.

“When my mom saw it on-screen, it blew her away. It was hard for her to connect it to me, so it was very emotional for her”, the actor revealed what his mother’s reaction was to seeing him as the legendary singer.

Michael  is set to release on April 24, 2026.
