The petition to stop screening Dhurandhar The Revenge during Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections has been rejected by the Madras High Court which denied any temporary relief at the initial admission stage.

The Chief Justice Sanjay A. Darmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan of the Bench rejected the request which sought to stop the film from being shown throughout Tamil Nadu until the election results were announced.

According to a Bar And Bench report, the petition was filed by a resident of Madurai. The requester sought temporary relief which would prevent the film from being shown in theaters and on OTT platforms throughout the Model Code of Conduct period.

The Court declined to intervene and dismissed the plea at the admission stage.

The petitioner claimed that screening the film during the election period would violate the principle of equal competition between candidates.

The plea claims that the film screening during the Model Code of Conduct period will affect the voting behavior of the voters. The opponents of the film showed that its broadcast during the crucial election period would violate the fundamental principles of democratic elections.

The petition addressed by the Court was dismissed without prejudice.

Dhurandhar The Revenge has become a popular topic among election discussions because people believe it contains political themes. The High Court faced a legal challenge which stemmed from these concerns. The Court permitted the film to be shown despite the petitioners' objections which they presented in their filing.
