Sunny Deol made a successful comeback to films with Gadar 2, and later appeared in another sequel to his blockbuster Border, and his career trajectory now showing an upward trend.

There were reports that the 68-year-old star is set to team up with Kill director for a high-octane action thriller, which is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2026.

Now, the title of the film, which is quietly building attention, has surfaced, and it's Lakhan. It will be directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt, known for a more raw style.

Bhatt, who recently redefined the action genre, is said to be preparing something very different for the veteran star.

According to reports, Lakhan is being shaped as a “mass entertainer” with heavy action and dramatic confrontations. The script is ready. Work is now focused on action design, with detailed planning going into set pieces. 

The shoot is expected to begin in October, as most of the effort is going into preparation but not rushing things. Industry chatter suggests the makers want scale, but also control.

The pairing itself is being watched closely. The Gadar actor’s strong, larger-than-life screen image meeting Bhatt’s intense storytelling could bring an unusual mix.

Away from Lakhan, Sunny Deol’s slate remains full. He will also appear as Hanuman in Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey and Yash.

He is also part of Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
