Fans may be getting another ride as Ride Along 3 begins early development at Universal Pictures, with key players like Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in talks to return, according to Deadline.

The update arrives as Universal Pictures has tapped Daniel Gold (Tough Guys) to write the screenplay.

Though Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, director Tim Story, and producer Will Packer have been open to a potential third film , creative differences stalled progress; until Daniel Gold delivered a pitch that reportedly united them.

Released in 2014, the first Ride Along dominated the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend box office with a $48.6 million four-day debut, eventually grossing $134.9 million in the U.S. and surpassing $154 million globally.

Ride Along 2 debuted with $41 million across four days and went on to earn $91.2 million in the U.S. and $124.6 million globally, pushing the franchise haul to $279 million worldwide.
