Asha Bhosle’s iconic interview reveals truth behind her Boy George collaboration
Asha Bhosle opens up about her 'struggle' with English in resurfaced interview
Asha Bhosle once made a shocking revelation about herself as she explicitly admitted that she did not know English in a previous interview resurfacing after her death at 92.
The melody queen, known for her collaborations with international artists, previously recalled one of her trips with English singer Boy George.
During her exclusive interview with Rediff in 2012, Bhosle was asked about her experience working with the Love Is Love hitmaker.
Speaking to the outlet, she shared, “I still don’t know English because we went to vernacular medium schools. Once, at an international concert. I was performing along with Boy George. He asked me in his thick English accent, ‘Asha, what does ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’ mean?’ I started fumbling; I didn’t know how to respond to this guy. So I was like, it means ‘I have stolen your heart.’ He blushed.”
It is pertinent to mention that Bhosle collaborated with the British singer during the Wembley concert in 2000.
Following the concert, Boy George described the collaboration as “the most perfect song I have ever done. It was the happiest time of my life, and is a song I treasure above everything else in my life.”
This interview resurfaces after Bhosle took her last breath on Sunday, April 12 due to multi-organ failure.
For the unversed, the legendary singer recorded over twelve thousand songs in her eight-decade long career.
