Britney Spears has taken a significant step toward recovery following her recent DUI controversy.

According to PEOPLE, a representative for the 44-year-old singer confirmed on Sunday, April 12, that she voluntarily entered a treatment facility just five weeks after her arrest.

Spears was arrested on March 4 in Ventura, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

She was released a day later, with her rep calling the incident "completely inexcusable."

"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time," the statement read.

It continued, "Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being."

The arrest added to a series of setbacks for the Toxic hitmaker, with fans increasingly concerned over her erratic social media posts since her conservatorship ended in 2021.

What did Britney Spears' ex-husband say about her behaviour?

Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, 48, expressed serious concern in his October 2025 memoir You Thought You Knew, saying it was "time to sound the alarm" about her behaviour.
