David Letterman has a perception of why CBS is replacing Stephen Colbert’s Late Show with Byron Allen's comedy talk show, Comics Unleashed.

During the Friday, April 10, episode of The Barbara Gaines Show, the former late-night host said CBS “don’t want to spend any money,” that’s why they chose Allen’s show to fill the late-night program's time slot

"So they're gonna make money,” Letterman added. “They charge Byron Allen some reasonable price, he sells all the advertising for his Comics Unleashed and it'll be about 90 minutes or two hours of comics talking about funny stuff."

Adding to Allen's comedy talk show, Letterman said it is “a pretty good idea. Its all panel. Nobody's doing any standup except they're seated doing standup."

CBS had earlier confirmed it sold the 11:35 p.m. to 12:37 a.m. weekday slot to Comics Unleashed, which will run back-to-back episodes each night.

The late-night lineup will then continue with another show from Byron Allen, Funny You Should Ask, airing from 12:37 a.m. to 1:37 a.m. and hosted by Jon Kelley.
