Varun Dhawan recently divided the internet after an Instagram influencer Simran Bhat reflected on his “bad times” ahead of the release of his upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.

The 38-year-old actor, who made his debut in the 2012 film Student of the Year, fueled speculation after the influencer made a shocking revelation about his much-awaited project.

On Tuesday, April 14, Simran shared a reel on Instagram, revealing that the Baby John star is faking reviews for his upcoming film.

In the video, she shared, “Two people stopped us and said a Varun Dhawan film teaser had been released. Can you please review it? I told them I hadn’t watched it yet. The guy said, It’s okay, we’ll tell you what to say. I questioned how it could be a review if they tell us what to say. The girl tried to reason that it’s because I hadn’t watched it yet. But if you want a genuine review, take it from those who have watched it.”

Later in the clip, she added, “I was like, is Varun Dhawan going through such bad times that he needs to fake reviews? What the hell?”

Responding to the claim, the Bhediya actor penned, “Hope you get the views you really want with this video.”

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, also starring Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, dropped its trailer on Tuesday, April 14.

For the unversed, David Dhawan’s directorial is scheduled to hit the theatres on Friday, May 22.
