'Call of Duty' movie locks summer 2028 release
Paramount Pictures has set a theatrical date for the film adaptation of 'Call of Duty'
The countdown has begun as Paramount Pictures has set a theatrical date for Call of Duty.
Making the announcement at CinemaCon on April 16, the studio revealed that its Call of Duty film adaptation will hit theaters June 30, 2028, with Pete Berg directing a screenplay by Taylor Sheridan.
"I told everyone we were only going to make a movie if it’s right. In David Ellison, we found that partnership," the producer Rob Kostich, head of the video game company Activision, which makes Call of Duty, stated.
“We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope,” he added.
The director had sent in a video message, where he opened up about the project, saying, "Taylor and I are both deeply connected to the special ops community."
As of right now, the plot details have been kept under wraps.
On X, formerly Twitter, fans reacted to the news, with one user writing, "Call of duty movie, it better be the og modern warfare."
Another fan shared hopes for casting, sharing who he wants to see in the upcoming movie.
"I want John Krasinski to star in the Call of Duty movie," the fan said.
Continuing, " Because I loved how he played the games in the Office episode The Coup. I hope the Call of Duty movie’s more successful at the box office than A Minecraft Movie."
