‘Toaster’ ending explained: Did Rajkummar Rao get the memory card?
Everything you need to know about ‘Toaster’s’ shocking ending
Patralekha produced her first film through the Netflix project Toaster. The film stars her husband and actor Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, along with Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Upendra Limaye and Jitendra Joshi in supporting roles.
Toaster follows the life of Ramakant Mishra who becomes involved in humorous yet tragic situations because of his excessive frugality. The film obtained its Netflix release on April 15 2026.
Toaster movie storyline
The movie centers on the lives of Ramakant and Shilpa who occupy an apartment building that serves as a retirement home for elderly residents. Ramakant displays extreme frugality which creates difficulties for everyone who interacts with him.
His wife is also annoyed by his cheap behavior. The couple purchases a new toaster to present as a wedding gift to Shilpa's mentor's daughter but Ramakant feels dissatisfied with the gift. He works hard to retrieve the wedding ring after the wedding was canceled. The following events create the main plot of the narrative.
Toaster ending: Did Ramakant get it back?
The story starts to develop when Glen uses his hidden camera to record MLA Amre's sexual misconduct and then proceeds to blackmail the politician by threatening to distribute the footage.
He keeps the memory card inside the named toaster which Ramakant wants to retrieve. The toaster retrieval attempt by Ramakant at Glen's residence results in a physical altercation which causes Glen to die from his injuries. Pherwani aunty possesses a video recording of the accident which she uses to coerce Ramakant into becoming her personal plaything. She stores the memory card in an additional tray which she keeps on top of the toaster. The first part of the story shows various characters chasing after the toaster appliance.
Yazoo park climax explained
The final scene of the movie takes place at Yazoo Park which exists as an actual park in Virar Mumbai. The park reveals its deserted state through the nighttime scene which establishes itself as an ideal location for criminal activity that occurs frequently.
The couple join Inspector Balgoade and Pherwani Aunty to enter the park for their personal purposes. In a series of scuffles Balgoade is shot dead. Ramakant and Shilpa fight off Pherwani Aunty who surprises them with her agility and her strength. Pherwani Aunty experiences a fall because of physics which causes her to die after she tumbs over the railing.
MLA Amre and the memory card twist
The MLA Amre reaches the scene and discovers the deceased body of Balgoade but his main interest lies in his controversial video. The same video that fell over the railing with Pherwani aunty.
Amre eats the red memory card because he does not know about its contents. Amre’s character serves as an effective caricature which shows how politicians present their public persona while concealing their genuine identity.
What happens to the evidence?
The phone that Pherwani aunty had with her contained Amre's scandal video. There was no evidence that anyone had checked on her until the very last moment. The body will probably be found at some point because the police investigation will continue after Balgoade's disappearance. The phone still contains Amre's scandal video which can be found and will destroy his political career.
Glen’s death explained
Glen's death was not an accident because Ramakant did not actually push him. Glen and he both pulled the toaster toward themselves which caused Glen to lose his balance and fall forward. The act proves his guilt beyond doubt because the existence of video evidence would have led to Ramakant facing legal prosecution.
Ramakant and Shilpa’s relationship
They continue to live together even after he takes her to a community food hall for their anniversary lunch. Shilpa should just leave Ramakant at this point. Ramakant refused to stop being a cheapskate after experiencing a life threatening situation.
Fighting with the electricity board over six rupees packing a tester perfume as a wedding gift and using a thin slice of soap to bathe all demonstrate that someone lacks the ability to lead a normal life.
Final verdict on Toaster
The existence of people who share Ramakant's personality traits makes me advise my readers to exercise caution and stay away from such individuals. The movies present affordable living as humorous but real life requires people to understand the boundaries that separate frugality from extreme stinginess.
I had high expectations for the movie Toaster which I watched. The film provided decent entertainment through its two predictable plot developments and one unexpected twist. Patralekha's cameo could have worked successfully in the film but everything became forced execution.
The film Toaster delivers black comedy with scenes that make viewers question whether such events could occur in actual life. The movie Toaster needed more precise editing to achieve better results.
