FC Basel has cancelled a planned concert by Kanye West at St. Jakob-Park in Switzerland, confirming the decision after reviewing a request and ruling it was not “in accordance with our values.”

The move places the club among several organisers distancing themselves from the Ye, as scrutiny around his public statements continues to impact scheduled appearances across Europe.

A club representative told Reuters the proposal had been formally assessed before being rejected. 

“FCB received an enquiry and considered it,” the spokesperson said. “However, after thorough review, we have decided not to proceed with the project, as we cannot, in accordance with our values, provide a platform for the artist in question within this context.”

The cancellation follows a similar development in Poland, where a planned show at Slaski Stadium in Chorzów was scrapped for “formal and legal reasons,” according to stadium director Adam Strzyzewski. 

The decision came after criticism from Poland’s culture minister Marta Cienkoska, who publicly opposed the event.

“The decision to organize a Kanye West concert in Poland is unacceptable,” she wrote on X, citing the artist’s past antisemitic remarks and controversies. The latest cancellations signal mounting resistance from European venues, raising further uncertainty around Ye’s upcoming performances.
