Shruti Haasan’s recent interaction with the paparazzi turned sour and became the centre of chatter after it went viral.

The 40-year-old actress was leaving the venue when photographers gathered around her, clicking pictures as usual. 

She is often calm in such situations, even exchanging polite words. But this time, something changed.

During this a paparazzo called her “mumma”. The remark appeared to cross a line.

The Laabam actress stopped and responded sharply: “Kaun hai mumma? Aapki mumma hai? Kya bak rahe ho tum? (Who is mumma? Is it your mother? What are you saying?)”

The clip quickly spread online, especially on X, where reactions came in fast and divided.

Many supported her reaction. Some questioned why such a term was used at all. One user wrote, “Why would anyone call her mumma, she’s right here.” Another added, “Seriously, these paparazzi have no manners to talk with people.”

Others saw humour in the awkwardness. “Called her ‘Mumma’ on the way to a party… and got a reply they’ll remember forever,” one comment read.

But not everyone agreed. A few asked if the response was too strong, with one saying, “Why she got angry on being called Mumma?”

On the work front, Shruti Haasan will next be seen in Aakasamlo Oka Tara, alongside Dulquer Salmaan and Satvika Veeravalli. 

Helmed by producers Sandeep Gunnam and Ramya Gunnam under Lightbox Media, the film’s release date has not been announced yet. She also has Salaar: Part 2 in the pipeline alongside Prabhas.
