Anil Kapoor admits parenting shortcomings, credits wife Sunita
Anil Kapoor speaks about raising three children, admits he could have been much better as a father
Actor Anil Kapoor has opened up in a very honest way about his role as a father, and he didn’t try to sugarcoat it.
He also gave full credit to his wife, Sunita Kapoor, saying she more or less handled everything on her own back then.
Speaking on a podcast with Lilly Singh, the 69-year-old spoke about raising his three children, Sonam Kapoor, Harshvardhan Kapoor, and Rhea Kapoor.
The Virasat actor didn’t hold back while talking about his own shortcomings. “I was hardly there. If my children say positive things about me, I feel happy that I have raised them well."
But as a father, I could have been much better. I should have spent more time. In many ways, Sunita has been like a single parent. I was present, but not the way a father should be,” the actor admitted.
He went on to say, “I barely knew which class they were in. I wouldn’t remember their birthdays, my wife would remind me. They would ask me, ‘When is my birthday?’ and I would go blank. But they have grown up to be wonderful, happy individuals,” he added.
Anil Kapoor and Sunita got married back in 1984. Over time, all three kids found their own space in the industry.
Sonam started off assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Black and later made her debut with Saawariya. Harshvardhan entered films with Mirzya, while Rhea chose a different path and became a producer, starting with Aisha.
On the work front, the Laadla actor was last seen in Subedar, where he played a retired army man and got a lot of praise.
He has the spy film Alpha and also King alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the pipeline.
